Q/A
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Acupuncture
Acupuncture entails stimulating specific points on the body, with a needle that penetrates the skin, to alleviate pain or to help treat various health conditions.
Is acupuncture safe?
When a qualified professional performs acupuncture, it has very few complications or side effects.
Is acupuncture painful?
Acupuncture needles are whisper-thin inserted into specific locations to treat pain, reduce stress, and improve health and wellness. Most people feel no pain or very little pain when they are inserted. In addition, many feel energized or relaxed after the treatment.
How often should I get treatments?
The goal of acupuncture is to improve your health by treating both the root of the issue and symptoms at the same time. The number of treatments depends on the severity of your condition and how your body responds.
- Those in acute pain may require several treatments in a short period of time to alleviate their symptoms.
- Some with chronic conditions may require maintenance-type treatments over several months.
- Anita will develop a personalized plan to fit your specific needs.
How long do acupuncture treatments take?
The first Acupuncture treatment usually takes about 60-90 minutes. The follow-up Acupuncture treatment is generally around 60 minutes.

Chinese Herbal Medicine
Is Chinese herbal therapy a replacement for conventional Western treatment?
No. Chinese herbal therapy is not a substitute for conventional medical diagnosis or treatment. However, it can complement or even enhance your conventional treatment plan.
Cupping Therapy
What is cupping?
Cupping is performed using a globe-shaped cup that is made of glass, plastic, rubber, or silicone. The open side of the cup is placed against your skin and creates a vacuum inside the cup that pulls your skin and superficial muscles up into the cup. We place multiple cups on your skin and leave them in place for a short period of time.
What health benefits would I receive with cupping?
Some benefits of cupping include local pain relief and muscle relaxation.
Cupping improves your overall health by removing energy blockages that traditional Chinese medicine practitioners would diagnose as obstacles to the flow of healthy energy or ‘chi’. The suction created during cupping increases your blood flow – so tissues can receive more oxygen and nutrients for healing, while bad toxins and cellular wastes are excised.
Many of the world’s most popular and successful athletes use cupping in recovery to help heal sore, tired muscles.
